Eric Partington, EHEDG UK

Eric is a Metallurgist and a European Consultant to the Nickel Institute. He specialises in the application of stainless steels in the food and beverage industry. He has presented and published extensively on EU food safety legislation, the selection of food contact materials and on hygienic design in the UK, in Europe and in Asia. Eric is Co-chairman of the Regional Section of the European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group which serves the UK & Ireland. He also chairs the EHEDG team currently revising its Guideline Document No. 32: Materials of Construction for Equipment in Contact with Food.  

Chris Crowley, S4 Engineering

Chris Crowley has built his career in Process engineering, working his way up to Process Engineering Manager at S4 Engineering. With a MEng in Chemical Engineering Chris has developed deep experience in food process engineering, risk management, CIP systems and hygiene equipment standards. He takes a practical, solutions-focused approach, helping customers achieve safer, more efficient and compliant operations.

Steve Arnold, SMC

Steve is a pragmatic forward thinking food automation specialist working for SMC Corporation. Steve’s worked for SMC UK as their Food Project Sales Manager for ten years building great relationships with both global food manufactures and strategic Original Equipment Manufacturers. Working in close collaboration with these key stakeholders he’s delivered multiple continuous improvement, productivity, and sustainability projects all significantly contributing to the bottom line.

Rob Cooper, BSSA

Rob was appointed Managing Director of the BSSA in 2020 following a career of over 30 years within the stainless steel industry. He started his stainless steel career in the 1990s with RGB Stainless Ltd, a subsidiary of what was then Sandvik and is now Alleima. He later worked with Outokumpu Stainless in various sales and managerial roles in the UK. He also had a spell in the nickel alloys industry with VDM Metals before joining Aperam Stainless Services and Solutions UK Ltd in 2014. He took over as Managing Director there the next year.

Amand Connor, M&S

 Since 2024, Amand Connor has brought his expertise to the role of Factory Standards Manager at M&S Food, shaping the audit standards that support the company’s global supply base. He oversees the supplier audit team and steers comprehensive training programmes designed to uphold the highest levels of food safety, brand integrity, and product quality. Before joining M&S, Amand built a strong reputation across the UK food manufacturing sector.

Deb Smith, Vikan

Deb is Global Hygiene Specialist for Vikan. She holds qualifications in Applied Microbiology, Nutrition & Food Science, Advanced Food Hygiene and HACCP and as an FSSC 22000 Lead Auditor and now has over 40 years of food safety/research training and experience.Deb is an active member of UKAFP (Vice-President), EHEDG (Co-Chair UK Regional Section and Advisory Board) and the IFST (Regional Section & Scientific Committee). She is also a Fellow of the IFST, and a Director at SoFHT.
